Summer Civic Learning Academy – Ball State Create Event
We were pleased to be a part of Ball State Create’s Summer Civic Learning Academy on June 17th, 2024. The Summer Civic Learning Academy is a 10-day program that exposes teachers to ideas for civics and history. The Academy provided teachers an opportunity to work with students to develop a civic learning project. To close Monday’s session, we were able to share our company’s mission with the teachers as well as giving them the opportunity to interact with some primary sources from our 1600+ work collection. This included Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense”, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, the Magna Carta, and many more. A big thank you again to Ball State Create and the teachers that were in attendance. Your advice on how to use these primary sources in an elementary school setting was invaluable.
Classical works exhibition included:
- My Bondage and My Freedom by Frederick Douglass, 1855
